Emergency Eyecare

Have you ever had a medical eye emergency and were not sure where to go?

Your local eye doctors at Stein Optometric Center are well equipped with the instruments and knowledge to diagnose and treat most ocular emergencies. Working with the advantage of being open 7 days a week and with great convenient hours, we are able to take same day appointments and treat many cases on the same visit. Given the nature and potential problems that are associated with certain eye emergencies, you will always be assured that your cases are given the highest in priority.

Treatment for Eye Emergency

Here are some eye health care emergencies that are available for treatment:

• Eye infection (pink/red eye)
• Corneal foreign body
• Corneal abrasion
• Eyelid abrasion
• Severe allergies
• Chronic dry eyes
• Iritis (eye pain)
• Chemical burns
• Direct trauma to the eye (sports injury)

Eye Health Symptoms to Watch For

• Eye pain and soreness
• Red, pink eye
• Eye swollen/closed shut
• Foreign body or particles in eye
• Bloodshot eye or a small pool of blood on corner of eye
• Mucous discharge, crustiness
• Drippy eye
• Extreme eye itchiness
• Black eye
• Reduced vision (blur)

Emergencies During Office Hours

During normal business hours, please call Manhattan Beach at (310) 546-5568 or Burbank at (818) 841-2393. All who are suffering from those symptoms mentioned are welcomed as same-day appointments or walk-in to receive the necessary medical attention. Each individual case will be evaluated thoroughly. Please be aware that symptoms of sudden flashes, floaters, loss of vision, or sudden double vision may need some special attention. If it is determined that we are unable to treat you, a referral to the appropriate retinal specialty will be extended.

After Hours Emergencies

Our doctors are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After hours, you may call this number for medical emergencies only: Manhattan Beach & Burbank Patients (310) 960-5568. Our On-Call Doctor will assist you in handling your eye emergency.
