Sports injury is very common and almost expected as part of the daily occurrences or mishaps to an athlete. Whenever the player sustains an injury to the eye or areas near the eye, it is usually very severe in nature. Most contact sports may cause eye injuries that are in the form of a corneal abrasion from a finger poked to the eye. There can also be a potential for a detached retina from a sharp blow to the head area by a shoulder, elbow, or ball traveling at high velocity. Here the trauma to the eye is not only painful, but can also be very sight-threatening.

Eye injuries can happen quickly and easily
At Stein Optometric Center, we have highly skilled doctors who excel in the process of diagnosing the type of injuries sustained and providing proper treatment for them. Depending on the nature of the injury, the condition can usually be treated on the premise. On special circumstances and certain conditions, the patient will be referred to the appropriate specialty care immediately.
